The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform the public that on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, His Excellency Manoj Bihari Verma, Ambassador of India to Liberia, was summoned to provide information regarding the tragic death of Mr. Sam Paor Juday.  

Mr. Juday, a Liberian citizen, was pursuing his studies at Kalinga University in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. Reports indicate that he passed away on December 22, 2025.  The circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear and are yet to be fully established by the relevant authorities in India.  

During the meeting, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep concern over the incident and requested that the Government of India ensure a thorough investigation into the matter. The Ministry specifically called for an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death and to provide clarity to the family and the Liberian people.  

Ambassador Verma conveyed condolences on behalf of the Government of India to the Government and people of Liberia for the loss of Mr. Juday.  He assured the Ministry that the competent authorities in India, including Kalinga University and the local police, are fully engaged in investigating the circumstances of the death.  

The Ambassador further pledged that the Embassy of India will provide regular updates on the progress of the investigation.  He emphasized that the Embassy is committed to transparency and will keep the Liberian Government informed of developments as they unfold.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also taken steps to remain in close contact with the family members of the deceased here in Liberia.  

The Ministry is offering support and guidance to the family during this difficult time, ensuring that they are kept informed of all developments.  This tragic incident underscores the importance of protecting the rights and welfare of Liberian nationals studying and working abroad.  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to reassure all citizens that the Government of Liberia remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the dignity of Liberians overseas.  

The Government will continue to engage with foreign missions and institutions to ensure that Liberians abroad are treated with respect and fairness.  The Ministry recognizes the grief and pain of the family and extends its deepest sympathy to them. It also calls upon the authorities in India to expedite the investigation so that the truth surrounding Mr. Juday’s death can be established.  The Ministry affirms that justice and accountability are essential in cases involving Liberian citizens abroad.  

The Government of Liberia will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide further updates to the public as new information becomes available.
