President Boakai Applauds Italy on 79th National Day Celebration

The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has sent a congratulatory message to the Government and People of the Republic of Italy on the occasion commemorating the 79th Anniversary of the Festa della Repubblica, Italian National Day and Republic Day. According to a Foreign Ministry release, Festa della Repubblica, in English, Republic Day is the Italian National Day and Republic Day, which is celebrated on 2 June each year. The day commemorates the institutional referendum held by universal suffrage in 1946, in which the Italian people were called to the polls to decide on the form of government, following the Second World War and the fall of Fascism. 


President Boakai, on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia and in his own name, extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes, to H. E. Mr. Sergio Mattarella, President of the Republic of Italy, and through him, to the Government and People of Italy as they commemorate this historic event.  “It is with joy that we join in celebrating this significant commemoration of your anniversary, which marks Italy’s Independence anniversary and underscores the enduring and fruitful relationship between our two nations, the Liberian leader stated. He expressed confidence that the strong cooperation between Liberia and Italy will continue to thrive and deepen throughout his administration.  President Boakai added that the partnership between the two countries, grounded in the long-standing friendship has been further strengthened through collaborative efforts in sectors such as agriculture, education, tourism and global security. He then wished for President Mattarella good health and happiness, and prayed that the people of Italy are blessed with continue progress and prosperity.
